John Floyd, Sr.

John Floyd is a seasoned trial lawyer, having tried 92 jury cases to verdict since 1990. The majority of his trials involve the defense of healthcare professionals and business/corporate entities.  He is certified by the National Board of Civil Trial Advocacy and The American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys.  He has represented clients in a variety of cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, civil conspiracy, intellectual property, partnership dissolution and personal injury. Additionally, Mr. Floyd represents health care professionals of all specialties before state health boards and administrative agencies in complaints against their license.  Although the firm is based in Nashville, Mr. Floyd’s practice encompasses representation of various clients throughout the United States.

Mr. Floyd’s writing on medical malpractice and other legal issues has been published in various outlets including Footlights and APMA News.  Mr. Floyd enjoys speaking and does a great deal of lecturing to practicing attorneys and health care professionals on subjects including medical malpractice, emergency room standards, chiropractic and podiatric malpractice, managed care, claims avoidance and trial strategy.

Mr. Floyd is revered by both colleagues and clients for his unwavering work ethic, unparalleled attention to detail and indelible presence in the courtroom.  Because of his unique skill as a trial lawyer, Mr. Floyd is frequently retained to handle difficult trials all over the United States.  His vast trial experience allows him to quickly evaluate cases and develop an appropriate trial strategy.  His greatest motivation is going to bat for someone he believes in and takes great pride in representing them before a jury.

Mr. Floyd and his wife of 29 years enjoy golfing and traveling the world with their three grown children.

John Floyd, Jr.

John Floyd, Jr. is a native Nashvillian and is delighted to be back in his beloved city with Floyd Law Group. After completing his undergraduate work at Sewanee, Mr. Floyd went on to pursue his law degree at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at The University of Memphis, earning his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2016.

During law school, Mr. Floyd served as Articles Editor for The University of Memphis Law Review and received numerous awards for his oratory skills and talent in various competitions. He was also awarded the CALI Award for Highest Grade in Civil Rights. Mr. Floyd interned with Judge Hamilton Gayden of Davidson County as well as Judge Julia S. Gibbons of the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals while in law school. Mr. Floyd is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Nashville Bar Association.

Inspired by his father’s long and successful career in the courtroom, Mr. Floyd has found equal passion for the competitive nature of being a trial lawyer. An excellent communicator, Mr. Floyd is known for achieving favorable results for his clients and considers it a privilege to help them get there.

Mr. Floyd is married to Caitlin, who is also an attorney, and enjoys traveling, exercising, fishing, and discussing politics.

Kimberly Cooper

Kimberly Cooper has been practicing law for 33 years, 17 of those years for John Floyd, Sr. From special education issues to worker’s compensation, Mrs. Cooper’s well-rounded history and experience has led her to focus primarily on medical malpractice and business litigation. She has litigated over one hundred cases, both bench and jury, and has resolved cases through alternative dispute resolution as well.

Mrs. Cooper’s strong people skills and strength in writing led her to a career in law, and her tenacity and empathetic approach makes her the ideal lawyer to work with. Mrs. Cooper’s goal with each case is to preserve her clients’ legal standing and reputation, giving 110% to make sure they are able to come away from the experience satisfied.

Mrs. Cooper has invested countless hours in the Nashville community through service to various non-profits. When she is not golfing or teaching her grandchildren how to golf, Mrs. Cooper enjoys travel, scuba diving with her husband and cheering on UT and Vandy football.
