The title of the presentation was “Medical Errors: The Patient’s View.”  The lecture was presented at the American Podiatric Medical Association’s annual seminar in Nashville, Tennessee.   The focus of the seminar was on preventing medical errors utilizing a real case involving a patient that suffered serious injuries following a boating accident in the Atlantic Ocean.   After the accident, the patient was transported to a local hospital where he was misdiagnosed on several occasions and underwent unnecessary procedures.  Throughout the lecture, Mr. Floyd demonstrated the various errors to the audience and recommend to the attendees ways to improve the delivery of healthcare and avoid the referenced errors.
